French president calls Ukraine war “triple failure” for Russia
Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has resulted in three major failures for Moscow, French President Emmanuel Macron stated.
Writing in Ukrainian on the social media platform X, Macron described the conflict as a triple failure for Russia: militarily, economically, and strategically, Caliber.Az reports.
“It has strengthened NATO, whose expansion Russia sought to prevent, united Europeans whom it aimed to weaken, and exposed the fragility of imperialism from another era,” Macron wrote.
He noted that although the Kremlin claimed it would seize Ukraine in a matter of days, since the front stabilised in November 2022, Russia has controlled only 1 percent of Ukrainian territory. Last month, Ukrainian forces also managed to reclaim some regions.
“And at what cost to Russians? Over 1.2 million Russian troops have been wounded or killed – the heaviest combat losses for Russia since World War II,” the French president said, adding that Russia, facing severe losses, has begun recruiting personnel in Africa for deployment to the Ukrainian front, often without proper training.
Macron emphasised that the supply of equipment and ammunition, training of Ukrainian troops, strengthening of air defences, counter-drone operations, and maintenance of delivered systems will continue, ensuring that “Ukraine can endure, and Russia realises that time is not on its side.”
