Fresh human graves found near animal burial site in Kazakhstan
Authorities in the city of Taraz are investigating the discovery of what officials described as fresh human graves near a biothermal pit used for animal burials during a routine inspection of veterinary facilities.
A working commission of the regional maslikhat identified the graves during an on-site assessment of veterinary and sanitary conditions, Kazakh media reports.
Zhanar Burkitbaeva, who participated in the inspection, said deputies and experts were reviewing compliance with sanitary regulations and safety standards, as well as examining relevant permits for the site.
“This raises serious questions regarding compliance with sanitary standards, safety, and the presence of appropriate permits,” the deputy wrote.
Burkitbaeva added that specialists are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery and reviewing documentation related to the facility’s operation. The issue is expected to be discussed at an upcoming regional maslikhat session.
