Gas leak at lithium plant in Ankara leaves two dead, eight hospitalized VIDEO
A nitrogen gas leak at a lithium factory in Ankara's Polatlı district has resulted in two fatalities and several injuries, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. during maintenance work at the facility, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
A sudden release of gaseous nitrogen exposed several workers to the leak.
Two of the workers, identified as 31-year-old Berat Yıldız and 23-year-old Abdulkadır Kaya, succumbed to the effects of the gas.
Eight other employees were hospitalised as a precautionary measure and are under medical observation.
The Polatlı Chief Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and assess possible negligence or safety violations.
