Gaza death toll rises as Israeli strikes continue
Gaza’s Health Ministry has said that more than 45,300 Palestinians were killed as a result of Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip since the conflict began in October 2023.
"The number of victims of Israeli actions in Gaza has risen to 45,338 since October 2023, with an additional 107,764 people injured," the ministry's statement said, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Gaza’s Health Ministry also emphasised that in the past 24 hours, 21 Palestinians were killed and 51 others were wounded due to Israeli airstrikes and bombardments in the enclave.
Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7, 2023 after militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion on Israeli territory, killing many Israeli kibbutz residents living near the Gaza border and abducting more than 240 Israelis, including women, children and the elderly. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave and some areas in Lebanon and Syria, as well as a ground operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Clashes are also reported in the West Bank.
