Gazprom suspends gas supplies to Bulgaria, Poland due to delayed payments
27 April 2022 11:25
Russia’s state-run energy giant Gazprom has completely stopped gas supplies to the Bulgarian Bulgargaz and the Polish PGNiG companies due to the failure of timely payments in rubles.
“Under the order established by the decree, Gazprom Export has informed Bulgargaz and PGNiG about the suspension of gas supplies starting from April 27 until payment is made,” Gazprom announced, adding Gazprom Export didn’t receive payments in April 2022, TASS reports.
Gazprom also recalled that Bulgaria and Poland are transit states, therefore "in the event of unauthorized withdrawal of Russian gas from transit volumes to third countries, transit supplies will be reduced by the same volume".
