Georgia aims to deepen ties with Central Asia, PM says

05 August 2026 16:20

Georgia will do everything necessary to strengthen its relations with Central Asian countries, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said.

Speaking at a government meeting, he stressed Georgia's strategic role as a gateway connecting the region to the Black Sea and Western markets, underscoring the importance of closer ties with Central Asia for regional connectivity, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.

"Georgia connects seven countries with the Black Sea and, consequently, with the Western space. Therefore, we attach special importance to our relations with the countries of Central Asia in terms of developing connectivity. In the future, the government will do everything possible to further deepen both political and trade-economic relations with Central Asia," Kobakhidze noted.

As part of efforts to strengthen cooperation with the region, Georgia has recently hosted the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on official visits.
