Georgia and Armenia win bid for 2029 U20 World Cup
Georgia and Armenia will jointly host the 2029 FIFA U20 World Cup, marking a major milestone for both nations.
The tournament will be the first of its kind held in Georgia under the auspices of FIFA. The two neighbouring countries submitted their joint bid in March of last year.
“This is truly a landmark event. For our countries and for football, this is a very important tournament, and I am pleased that we will work on this project together,” said Levan Kobiashvili, president of the Georgian Football Federation. “I congratulate all fans and am confident this tournament will leave the same impact on the development of our football as previous international tournaments.”
Georgia has previously hosted major youth competitions, including the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in 2017 and the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in 2023, providing experience in organising international football events.
