Georgia authorizes protests outside parliament until July 8 under conditions

28 June 2026 14:40

The Interior Ministry of Georgia has officially allowed protests to continue outside the parliament building until July 8, while introducing restrictions on participants’ movement.

According to a document published on the ministry’s website, demonstrators are permitted to remain on the steps in front of the parliament’s facade and in the surrounding area, provided they do not obstruct pedestrian or vehicle traffic.

Protesters are required to comply with public safety regulations and must not interfere with the work of state institutions, businesses, or other organizations.

The anti-government rallies are scheduled to take place daily from 7:00 p.m. to midnight.

Since November 28, 2024, protests have been ongoing in Georgia following the government’s decision to postpone EU accession negotiations until 2028. Demonstrators accused the authorities of abandoning European integration and demanded a reversal of the decision.

Later, additional demands were added, including the release of detainees and the call for early parliamentary elections.
