Georgia beefs up customs control with Russia

The Georgian authorities have strengthened the work of the Kazbegi -Verkhniy Lars customs checkpoint.
Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili made the remarks during a speech in parliament, TASS reports.
The number of border guards on the Russian-Georgian border has been increased, and X-ray scanners will be installed in addition, he said.
This measure, according to Garibashvili, was taken to avoid the turnover of goods, the import of which is prohibited on Russian territory due to Western sanctions imposed on it.
