Georgia bids for OSCE 2027 chairmanship
Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili has addressed the first meeting of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Forum for Security Cooperation in Vienna, warning that the security environment across the OSCE region remains “serious” and requires urgent attention.
According to the foreign minister, emerging and rapidly evolving threats are reshaping the regional security landscape. She pointed to the spread of modern weapons, the increasing use of cyber operations, and the growing intensity of hybrid threats that, she said, blur the distinction between traditional and non-traditional forms of conflict, Caliber.Az reports per Georgian media.
Bochorishvili also confirmed that Georgia will assume the chairmanship of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation until September 4, 2026, after which the role will be transferred to the United Kingdom.
In addition, she announced that Georgia has formally submitted its application to chair the OSCE in 2027.
