Georgia detains three suspects over alleged ISIS links
Georgia’s сounterterrorism officers have detained three citizens on suspicion of links to the Islamic State (ISIS) militant group, the State Security Service (SGB) has said.
The special operation was carried out overnight in settlements in the Pankisi Gorge, according to Georgian media sources.
Authorities said the detainees had joined the terrorist organisation, followed instructions received from abroad, held secret meetings, and engaged in propaganda encouraging recruitment into extremist structures.
They made it clear that the suspects face between 10 and 17 years in prison if convicted.
During searches, officials reportedly seized firearms, explosives, ammunition, electronic devices, and items bearing ISIS symbols, along with other evidence.
