Georgia draws line against Ukraine-Moldova style EU integration

Georgia will not pursue European Union membership through what it described as the Ukrainian or Moldovan path, Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili told reporters.

“If EU membership becomes an end in itself, it means sacrificing territorial sovereignty and giving up the right to determine one’s own policies. For Georgia, this is unacceptable.

Georgia will not follow a path that envisages EU accession at the cost of territorial concessions and the liquidation of the state,” said Shalva Papuashvili,” Papuashvili stated.
