Tbilisi tightens rules on foreign nationals in protest crackdown
01 May 2026 14:24
From May 1, the Georgian government will be able to expel foreign nationals for an expanded range of offences committed during protests, broadening existing enforcement measures.
Under the updated rules, foreign citizens may face deportation and a three-year entry ban not only for breaching protest regulations, but also for minor hooliganism, failure to comply with lawful police orders, or engaging in unlawful acts against law enforcement officers, Caliber.Az reports per Georgian media.
The same sanctions will also apply to foreigners accused of insulting politicians or public officials while they are carrying out their duties.
