Georgia expels over 100 illegal immigrants, detains two over fake passports

Georgian authorities have stepped up efforts to secure the country’s borders, expelling 107 illegal immigrants in September alone.
The expelled individuals included citizens of Russia, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan, as well as India, Pakistan, Egypt, Iran, Nigeria, Cameroon, Sudan, Bangladesh, Jordan, Myanmar, Nepal, Syria, and Ethiopia, the Interior Ministry reported on October 1.
In a separate incident at Tbilisi International Airport, two foreigners were arrested while attempting to enter Georgia using counterfeit passports.
Prosecutors have warned that the pair could face up to six years in prison if convicted.
