Georgia installs new prosecutor general with parliamentary approval

Georgia’s parliament has officially approved Giorgi Kvarakidze as the country’s new Prosecutor General, following a vote held during a plenary session on June 24, 2025.
Kvarakidze’s appointment was supported by 83 members of parliament, with no opposing votes recorded, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media sources.
Prior to the vote, Kvarakidze addressed lawmakers during a meeting of the Legal Affairs Committee, where he outlined his strategic vision for the Prosecutor General’s Office.
He identified key priorities, addressed the main challenges facing the institution, and presented his roadmap for reform and development under his leadership.
