Georgia joins Belgrade Declaration of EU candidate countries

Georgia’s Parliament has joined the Belgrade Declaration of countries seeking membership in the European Union, according to Georgian media.

The document was adopted following the first conference of speakers of parliaments from EU candidate countries, which was held in Belgrade, Serbia.

The declaration emphasises the key role of national parliaments in the European integration process and highlights the importance of strengthening cooperation among candidate states as they pursue EU membership.

Participants also agreed to hold annual meetings of parliamentary speakers to deepen political dialogue, exchange experience, and expand cooperation.

The next conference of speakers of parliaments from EU candidate countries is scheduled to take place in 2027 in Moldova.
