Georgia moves against illegal migration
14 February 2026 18:11
Georgia has announced plans for a large-scale deportation campaign targeting illegal migrants, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
“We have identified the deportation of between 3,500 and 4,000 illegal migrants as one of our main priorities and plans for this year, and I can confidently say that by using the right tools and various mechanisms, we will certainly achieve this,” said Georgian Interior Minister Gela Geladze.
According to him, more than 1,300 illegal migrants were deported from Georgia over the past year — a 207% increase compared with 2024.
