Georgia named Europe’s most transparent government, survey shows
Georgia has ranked first in Europe for government transparency, with the survey including responses from nearly 47,000 people across 85 countries, the Democracy Perception Index 2026 says.
Researchers said Georgia was the only European country where government transparency received a positive assessment from survey participants, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The report cited by the Alliance of Democracies also noted that Georgia outperformed several European countries in democratic governance indicators, including France, Portugal, Greece, and Romania.
Globally, Georgia ranked 38th in the Democracy Perception Index.
The Georgian government also placed among the top 20 in Europe in terms of perceived democracy.
In addition, Georgia ranked second in Europe after Hungary in terms of positive perceptions of elections.
The Democracy Perception Index (DPI) is regularly analysed by political experts to assess public attitudes toward democracy in different countries.
