Georgia ranks second in the world in alcohol consumption.
Each resident consumes an average of 15.5 liters of pure alcohol per year, data from the World Population Review’s 2026 ranking shows. Only Romania ranks higher, at 17.1 liters, Caliber.Az reports, citing Sputnik Georgia.
The ranking measures the volume of pure ethanol contained in all alcoholic beverages, including wine, beer and spirits.
Eastern and Central European countries dominate the list of those with the highest consumption: Latvia ranks third with 14.7 liters, followed by Moldova with 14.1 liters and Czechia with 13.7 liters.
