13 December 2025 18:16

All three of Georgia’s international airports recorded an all-time high in passenger traffic in January–November 2025, handling nearly 8 million passengers, which represents a 14% increase compared with the same period last year.

According to Caliber.Az, citing Georgian media, the figures were released by Georgia’s Civil Aviation Agency.

Georgia’s international airports had previously set a record in 2024, when they served 7.5 million passengers and operated 32,500 flights. Both indicators marked a 24% rise compared with 2023.

During the first 11 months of 2025, airports across the country also registered a record number of international and domestic flights, with more than 35,000 flights operated, up 18% year on year. Of these, 26,855 were scheduled services, while 8,250 were charter flights.

Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air emerged as the largest airline in Georgia’s aviation market by passenger numbers. The airline accounted for 17% of the market and transported 1,309,716 passengers between January and November 2025.

In terms of passenger volumes on international scheduled and charter routes, the leading carriers were Wizz Air Hungary with a 17% share, Georgian Airways with 8%, and Pegasus Airlines and Turkish Airlines, each holding 7%.

Cargo traffic by air also increased sharply. A total of 33,924.485 tonnes of freight was transported during the reporting period, representing a 49% increase compared with the first 11 months of 2024.
