Georgia’s proactive role earns Turkish leader’s appreciation in Ankara talks, MP says

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed his gratitude to Georgia for its positive stance, reaffirming the strength of bilateral relations between the two countries.

This was conveyed by Guram Macharashvili, an MP, Executive Secretary of the People’s Power party, following his recent visit to Ankara, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.

“Erdogan thanked Georgian society, the state and the authorities for the very good position Georgia holds today,” Macharashvili stated.

He described the meeting as highly productive, emphasizing its significance for the further enhancement of strategic ties between Georgia and Türkiye.

Macharashvili added that the discussions between the two presidents served to once again confirm the robustness of the relationship and mutual commitment to deepening cooperation in the future.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Georgian president Mikheil Kavelashvil met on August 12 in Türkiye. The parties discussed the main directions of bilateral cooperation between  the two countries. Emphasis was placed on the close, friendly and partnership relations, as well as cooperation in the spheres of education and security.

The meeting addressed issues of economic cooperation between the countries. Additionally, the parties expressed readiness to deepen bilateral and regional cooperation in political, economic and cultural directions.
