Georgia's speaker rejects foreign influence on national interests

10 June 2026 14:28

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has stated that the country’s national interests must not be replaced or undermined by the interests of external actors.

He stressed that it is unacceptable for local political groups to act as instruments of foreign powers, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.

“It is categorically unacceptable when local political groups act as conduits of external interests. It does not matter who these forces are or where they come from,” he noted.

According to him, nations unite into states to distinguish their own interests from those of others.

“It is unacceptable for anyone, even under the pretext of friendship with the United States, to try to harm Georgia’s interests,” he added.
