Georgia sends new note to Germany over incorrect leadership listings
Georgia’s Foreign Ministry has sent Germany a new diplomatic note requesting that outdated information about the country’s leadership be updated on the German Foreign Ministry’s official website.
The ministry said that the website still lists Salome Zourabichvili as president of Georgia and Ilia Darchiashvili as foreign minister, despite the fact that these details have become outdated following the 2024 elections, Caliber.Az reports.
As a result of the elections, Mikheil Kavelashvili, was sworn in as president of Georgia amid a political crisis after the government froze European Union application talks in a move that sparked major protests.
The Georgian side had previously submitted a verbal diplomatic note to Germany’s Foreign Ministry requesting that the information be corrected.
Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili earlier confirmed that such a request had been made.
