Georgia strengthens measures to protect state language
Georgia has established a parliamentary working group dedicated to the protection and development of the state language, according to local media reports.
As reported by Caliber.Az, the newly formed group will oversee the preservation of standards of the Georgian literary language, monitor terminology norms, and support efforts in the field of digitalisation. It will also prepare proposals aimed at improving the country’s Law “On the State Language”.
The initiative is expected to reinforce institutional mechanisms for safeguarding linguistic standards and adapting them to modern technological and administrative needs.
Georgia already has a State Language Department, which is responsible for implementing language policy and approving standards of the Georgian literary language.
