Georgia to produce drones

Until the end of the year, the production of unmanned aerial vehicles will be launched on the basis of the state military-technical center "Delta" in Georgia, Georgian Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze said.

The minister noted that work is underway to develop the military industry, and real steps are already being taken in this direction, Sputnik Georgia reports.

“We have already concluded an agreement on drones, signed and created a joint venture. We are already taking real steps to launch production. We plan to produce Georgian-made unmanned aerial vehicles at the Delta base by the end of the year,” Burchuladze said.

The Minister also spoke about the production in Georgia of an automatic rifle of the NATO GI-4 (5.56) standard, which is produced at the Georgian-Israeli enterprise Delta C. According to him, the production of rifles has been successfully completed in a test mode and mass production of products will begin in the near future.

The Delta Center unites six research institutes and the Tbilisi Aviation Plant, the center is subordinate to the Ministry of Defense of Georgia. Up to 15 types of Georgian-style weapons and military equipment are produced at the Delta base, including Georgian Lazika combat vehicles, Didgori armored personnel carriers, a multiple launch rocket system and an unmanned vehicle.
