Georgia to relocate leading universities to new student city, minister says
Georgia's leading state universities will be relocated to a new student city planned between Tbilisi and Rustavi, Education, Science and Youth Minister Givi Mikanadze has announced.
The project envisions the creation of a modern educational hub featuring state-of-the-art academic buildings, student dormitories, and a range of sports and recreational facilities designed to provide a comfortable and dynamic campus environment, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
Mikanadze said the initiative is progressing as planned, while emphasizing that some of the universities' historic buildings will be preserved and restored as part of the project.
"I can assure you that the process is proceeding according to plan, and the first construction works will begin soon. It is still difficult to specify the exact timeline, as much will depend on the tender process, but the initial works will most likely start next year," the minister said.
