Georgian authorities deny entry to American expert

The Head of the Georgian State Security Service, Grigol Liluashvili, said on April 6 that American citizen Jameson Marshall Commins was not allowed into Georgia.

"I confirm that Jameson Marshall Commins did not enter Georgia based on our decision [...] Maybe Commins was doing worse. I confirm that there is specific information based on highly reliable sources. The US Embassy did not contact us about why we did not allow him, they probably know the reason well. Even if Akerman were alive and had come, we would not have let him in, after he was exposed to the activities he was engaged in," said Liluashvili, per Interpress.

According to him, he cannot say whether the sanctions are directly related to his non-admission and noted that one should ask the American side, however, he did not rule out this connection.

"Maybe there is a connection, maybe there isn't, you have to ask the party that imposed sanctions on specific persons," Liluashvili said.

According to him, Jameson Marshall Commins' "activity was related to the training of destructive groups at the March 7-8 protests, giving instructions, etc."
