Georgian authorities raid former infrastructure minister’s home Over abuse of office
Authorities in Georgia have carried out searches at the homes of former Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze and his former deputy.
According to Sputnik Georgia, Koba Gabunia, the ex-deputy minister responsible for the Municipal Development Fund, has been detained on allegations of abusing his official position, the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Finance said.
Searches were also carried out at the homes of several other individuals, covering a total of 20 locations, as part of an investigation into the illegal appropriation of 11.2 million lari ($4.1 million) allocated for the construction of kindergartens and schools, and the laundering of illicit funds by the company Lagi Capital.
Karseladze served as Georgia’s Infrastructure Minister from February 2021 until April 2025.
On October 28, Davit Tabidze, former Executive Director of Georgia’s Municipal Development Fund, was arrested over alleged abuse of office and money laundering linked to Lagi Capital.
