Georgian blogger faces threats after “Armenian general” admits role in Khojaly massacre

Georgian blogger Tamuna Mumladze, known as Tako, has once again become the target of threats after sharing a video in 2023 in which an individual claiming to be an "Armenian general" confessed to his involvement in the Khojaly genocide.

In an interview, Tako Tamuna stated that due to the ongoing threats, she is unable to provide comments to the press, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

She expressed concern for her safety and described how the situation has escalated since the initial video release. In 2023, Tako Tamuna posted a conversation on the TikTok platform featuring Levon Minasyan, a man who identified himself as an "Armenian general".

During their dialogue, Minasyan shockingly admitted his role in the brutal massacre of Azerbaijanis in Khojaly, stating: "Khojaly is my business. Azerbaijanis are looking for me. How many I killed, how many I slit — it's countless."

The shocking confession prompted a significant backlash, and Tako Tamuna has faced a flood of threats and intimidation from Armenians. Recently, she posted another video on social media, reigniting a new wave of harassment directed at her.

The Khojaly genocide is the gravest crime committed against peaceful Azerbaijani people in the course of Armenia’s aggressive war against Azerbaijan. 

On the night of February 25-26, 1992, in violation of all international legal norms, Armenian armed forces attacked the civilian population of the sieged town of Khojaly with heavy military equipment, killing them with unprecedented brutality and razing the town to the ground. As a result of crime against not only the people of Azerbaijan but against humanity, 613 civilian Azerbaijanis, including 63 children, 106 women and 70 elders were brutally murdered on grounds of national identity. The Khojaly genocide is one of a series of acts of mass slaughter aiming to crush those who rose up for the defence of their lands from Armenian armed forces’ aggression.
