Georgian opposition proposes parliamentary commission to set minimum wage
02 April 2026 11:02
The opposition party “Gakharia – For Georgia” plans to establish a parliamentary commission tasked with determining the country’s minimum wage, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
Georgian Member of Parliament Giorgi Sharashidze said that economic growth is encouraging for Georgia, “but what use is it if citizens do not feel it in their own pockets?”
“If only the same families are getting richer while people’s salaries are not increasing, it means you are protecting the interests of businesses that then fund your party—openly or secretly,” he added.
Sharashidze said the government bears responsibility for rising prices in the country, pointing to flawed socio-economic policies as the underlying cause.
