Georgian parliament confirms new head of State Security Service

The Georgian parliament has approved the appointment of Gela Geladze as head of the State Security Service.
Geladze’s nomination was backed by 85 lawmakers, with 12 voting against. Prior to the vote, he appeared before the parliamentary Defence Committee in a closed-door session, Caliber.Az reports per Georgian media.
He will serve a six-year term in the role, succeeding Mamuka Mdinaradze, who is set to become State Minister for Coordination of Law Enforcement Agencies.
Geladze previously served as Georgia’s Minister of Internal Affairs, a position he had held since May 28, 2025.
