Georgian parliamentary delegation pays first official visit to Canada
A parliamentary delegation from Georgia is on its first official visit to Canada, where it is holding high-level meetings with representatives of the country’s legislative and executive branches.
The visit is taking place in Ottawa and Toronto, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
The agenda includes talks with Speaker of the Canadian Parliament Francis Scarpaleggia, meetings in relevant parliamentary committees, discussions with Canada’s delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and consultations with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A separate meeting was held with the Canada–Georgia friendship group, during which the Canadian side highlighted Georgia’s important role in the South Caucasus and expressed interest in expanding trade and economic cooperation, as well as strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue.
