Georgian PM arrives in US for UN summit
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has arrived in the United States, where he will deliver a speech at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (or Summit of the Future) in New York on September 25.
Within the framework of the visit, Irakli Kobakhidze will take part in the “Summit of the Future” organized by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Namibian President Nana Mbumba, as well as meet with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
In addition, the Georgian Prime Minister will attend an official reception, which will be held on behalf of US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden, in honour of the heads of delegations participating in the 79th session of the General Assembly.
The Summit of the Future (22-23 September 2024) is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to enhance cooperation on critical challenges and address gaps in global governance, reaffirm existing commitments including to the Sustainable Development Goals and the United Nations Charter, and move towards a reinvigorated multilateral system that is better positioned to positively impact people's lives.
