Georgian PM blames “Global War Party” for Trump assassination attempt

14 July 2024 17:17

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has directly implicated what he terms the "Global War Party" in the recent assassination attempt on US presidential candidate Donald Trump.

Expressing solidarity with the Republican candidate, Kobakhidze condemned the attack and wished Trump a swift recovery, Caliber.Az reports citing Kobakhidze’s message on Facebook.

Kobakhidze conveyed his message via Facebook, denouncing what he perceives as a pattern of violence and extremism in global politics.

He specifically pointed to what he described as "liberal fascism, radicalism, polarization, hatred, and murderous attacks on politicians" becoming increasingly prevalent in America and Europe in the 21st century.

Kobakhidze's statement reflects growing international concern over political violence and its impact on democratic processes. His characterization of the incident as part of broader global trends underscores the gravity of the attempted assassination on Donald Trump and its implications for international security and stability.

The Georgian Prime Minister's remarks are expected to contribute to ongoing discussions on the safety of political figures and the challenges posed by extremism in contemporary political landscapes. As investigations into the assassination attempt continue, Kobakhidze's stance adds a significant voice to the global discourse on political violence and its repercussions.

Further developments are anticipated as authorities work to uncover the motives and circumstances behind the attack, while political leaders worldwide reaffirm commitments to safeguarding democratic values and protecting public figures from harm.

US ex-President Donald Trump was the target of an apparent assassination attempt on July 13 at a Pennsylvania rally, days before he was to accept the Republican nomination for a third time. A barrage of gunfire set off panic, and a bloodied Trump, who said he was shot in the ear, was surrounded by Secret Service and hurried to his SUV as he pumped his fist in a show of defiance.
