Georgian PM discusses restoring strategic partnership with US president

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said he held a brief conversation with US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio about restoring the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States.

Kobakhidze noted that the conversation took place at an official reception in honor of heads of state attending the UN General Assembly in New York, Caliber.Az reports via Sputnik Georgia.

“I emphasized that we want to restore the strategic partnership. Georgia has taken a step, and we are waiting for reciprocal steps. That was my message during the brief conversation,” Kobakhidze told reporters.

He described the exchange as positive but declined to disclose details of the US side’s response.
