Georgian PM hails Tbilisi Summit’s role in strengthening regional finance

23 October 2025 21:12

The Tbilisi Finance Summit will boost regional cooperation in developing financial services, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.

Speaking at the opening of the Tbilisi Finance Summit, held within the framework of the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, Kobakhidze noted that this initiative will pave the way for Georgia to emerge as a financial technology centre, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.

Kobakhidze emphasised that the initiative would also help attract additional investment to the Middle Corridor countries, stimulate economic growth, and strengthen as well as simplify trade across the region.

According to him, the Georgian government and the National Bank are actively fostering competition in the financial sector, expanding access to financial services, introducing innovative products, and supporting the advancement of financial technologies.

The prime minister said that the integration of digital services and technological innovations in the financial sector ensures modern, fast, and secure services for consumers, while expanding access to finance that drives investment, local business growth, and job creation.

The major event is being held in the Georgian capital as part of the fifth Tbilisi Silk Road Forum. It brings together leaders from the fintech and financial industries, central bank heads, executives of major companies, and experts from around the world.

The Tbilisi Silk Road Forum 2025, held on October 22–23 in Tbilisi under the theme “Invest in Connectivity – Grow in Stability,” serves as a major international platform promoting cooperation along the Middle Corridor.

Within the framework of this forum, the Tbilisi Finance Summit brought together global leaders in banking, fintech, and investment to discuss innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable finance in the region.

Jointly organised by the Government of Georgia, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Bank of Georgia, the forum aims to strengthen Georgia’s role as a strategic bridge between Europe and Asia.

The discussions focus on fostering cross-border investment, improving regulatory frameworks, and enhancing digital infrastructure to support inclusive economic growth across the region.
