Georgian PM not concerned by revelations from ex-security chief

17 September 2026 15:06

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said he was not concerned about possible revelations by former State Security Service chief Grigol Liluashvili, who has been sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Responding to questions about whether Liluashvili might make public statements concerning government officials or state affairs, the prime minister added that there had previously been cases in which officials convicted on corruption charges had attempted to disclose information after being imprisoned, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.

He argued that such claims had not resulted in consequences for the government because, in his view, its activities were conducted transparently.

“Let him say whatever he wants; that is the right of any prisoner. I don’t see any threat from him,” Kobakhidze said.
