Georgian police arrest three foreigners in major drug bust VIDEO
Police officers from the Isani-Samgori Main Division, Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have detained three foreign nationals during an operational investigation.
The suspects have been charged with the illegal acquisition and possession of narcotic substances in particularly large quantities, as well as facilitating their sale, the Georgian Interior Ministry said in a post on Facebook.
According to the Interior Ministry, during personal searches of the detainees and inspections of their places of stay, law enforcement officers seized drugs prepared for sale, packaged into 42 individual parcels.
Expert analysis confirmed that the seized substances included methadone and dried marijuana.
A criminal case has been launched under articles of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which provide penalties of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
