Georgian police bust massive meth operation, arrest foreign nationals

The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs has seized an unprecedented 28 kilograms of methadone from a major drug operation, authorities announced.

Speaking at a briefing, Giorgi Bukhrashvili, director of the Adjara police department, said the operation took place in Tbilisi and across several regions, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.

Officers uncovered a clandestine drug laboratory and three cannabis greenhouses during the raids.

Those arrested include both Georgian citizens and foreign nationals. While the ministry has not disclosed the exact number of detainees, all face sentences of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
