Georgian police detain armed man who stormed bank

Georgian police have detained an armed man who stormed a branch of the Bank of Georgia in the municipality of Abasha and fired a shot from a hunting rifle, authorities have stated.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs said, on Facebook, officers from the Samegrelo–Zemo Svaneti Police Department arrested the suspect at the scene during an operation on robbery charges, Caliber.Az reports.
According to investigators, no injuries were reported. The weapon was seized as evidence.
The case is being investigated under Article 179 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which defines robbery and carries a sentence of up to seven years in prison.
