Georgian police detain man for meth, ammo possession in Imereti He faces 20+ years in jail
Police in Georgia's Imereti region have detained a 33-year-old man on charges of illegal acquisition, possession, and distribution of a large quantity of narcotics, as well as unlawful possession of ammunition, the country's Interior Ministry said.
According to authorities, the suspect was involved in the sale of methadone. The investigation, conducted under a court order, included covert audio and video surveillance, which helped establish his activities, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media sources.
Law enforcement seized illegal narcotics and ammunition from the suspect’s residence. The case is being investigated under charges related to the illegal manufacture, acquisition, possession, transport, or sale of narcotic substances, as well as unlawful handling of firearms, ammunition, explosives, or explosive devices.
If convicted, the suspect could face 20 years to life in prison.
