Georgian prosecutor investigates corruption at Tbilisi train repair plant

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia is investigating corruption at a wagon repair plant in Tbilisi.

The probe focuses on embezzlement and misappropriation of funds at the Tbilisi branch of the plant, which services electric train carriages, involving abuse of official authority, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.

The investigation was launched following findings from an internal audit by the Tbilisi City Hall.

Since 2017, the city has been repairing all metro train cars to extend their service life, a program that has cost the Tbilisi budget hundreds of millions of lari.
