Georgian ruling party dismisses ALDE resolution as "full of lies"
The resolution on Georgia adopted by the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) is “full of lies” and will yield no results, Kakha Kaladze, Secretary-General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, told journalists.
At a party congress in Brussels on October 25, ALDE condemned alleged election falsifications in Georgia and called on the EU to impose targeted sanctions, Caliber.Az informs.
Notably, ALDE includes European officials such as EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos among its members.
“The campaign of lies continues. Resolutions and statements like this, soaked in falsehoods, will not produce any results,” Kaladze said.
He added that Georgian society is fully aware of the processes taking place both domestically and internationally.
“Most importantly, the Georgian people have said ‘no’ to the corrupt European bureaucracy that acts against Georgian statehood, peace, and economic development. Society sees and analyses what is happening,” Kaladze stated.
Georgia is currently a candidate country for EU membership, a status it received in December 2023, a year after Ukraine and Moldova—a move that Georgian authorities described as unfair.
