Georgian speaker calls Zelenskyy ungrateful, reaffirms support for Ukrainians

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili stated that Georgia supports the Ukrainian people, but neither President Volodymyr Zelenskyy nor Brussels deserve Georgia’s backing, describing the Ukrainian leader as ungrateful.

When asked about Georgia’s vote in favour of the UN resolution on Ukraine, which passed with support from 107 countries while 51—including the United States, China, and Hungary—abstained, Papuashvili criticised Zelenskyy for imposing sanctions on Georgian officials and for lacking gratitude toward Georgia and the US, Caliber.Az reports per Georgian media.

He emphasised that Georgia supports the Ukrainian people and mentioned Ukraine’s decision to recall its ambassador from Georgia because Georgians were not allowed to fight there.

“In general, Zelenskyy is an ungrateful person. I am not the first to say this. The American president told him to show some gratitude. Zelenskyy shows no gratitude to either America or Georgia. We support the Ukrainian people. I will remind once again of Zelenskyy’s failed statements—Ukraine recalled its ambassador from Georgia because Georgians were not allowed to fight and be killed there. They should be thankful, but overall, we do not need their gratitude. All of this we do for the Ukrainian people; the ultimate judgment on Zelenskyy will be made by the Ukrainian people themselves,” Shalva Papuashvili said.
