Georgian top lawmaker criticizes Brussels for straying from European values
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has sharply criticized Brussels, claiming that the European capital has lost touch with its foundational values.
“Today, Brussels has lost touch with its values,” Papuashvili said, emphasizing the contrast between how Georgians interpret European principles and the current approach of EU institutions, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
“As we Georgians understand and uphold, European values mean dialogue, not confrontation; conversation, not directives; recognition of others’ interests, not the imposition of orders. Unfortunately, today Brussels is moving away from these values, and the result is exactly the confrontational tone, attacks, and rhetoric we hear directed at the Georgian people,” he added.
