Germany evacuates 250 citizens stranded in Middle East
The first flight carrying German citizens stranded by escalating conflict in the Middle East has safely landed at Frankfurt Airport, Die Welt reports.
The Lufthansa aircraft departed on March 4 evening from Muscat, the capital of Oman, and carried roughly 250 passengers. Many on board were considered part of “vulnerable groups,” including pregnant women, children, and individuals with medical conditions.
German authorities have announced that additional evacuation flights are planned in the coming days. The operation comes after a recent United States military action against Iran left tens of thousands of German tourists stranded across countries in the Persian Gulf region.
Officials stressed that ensuring the safe return of citizens remains a top priority as regional tensions persist.
