Germany to allocate up to 24 million euro to Georgia for development of natural resources
Germany’s KfW Development Bank will issue a grant worth 24 million euro to Georgia for the development of protected areas.
“This [allocation of the grant] is a six-year program and a new important stage of the procedure of bringing Georgia's biodiversity protection standards even closer to European and modern ones,” TASS reports referring to the Georgian parliament.
“All the activities that are indicated in the project, as well as the fact that the Georgian side adopts the European experience, and in particular, the German one through such projects to develop the protected areas are very important,” the parliament quoted Head of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee Maia Bitadze as saying, who took part in the signing of the corresponding memorandum.
“The allocated money will be spent on improving, expanding protected areas, as well as increasing the forest fund in Georgia’s Adjara Autonomous Republic,” the parliament added.
