Gold medal from Yasemin Adar Yiğit in wrestling
Yasemin Adar Yiğit, who competed in the women's 76 kg category at the World Wrestling Championship, won the gold medal.
On the fifth day of the organization held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, Yasemin faced Egyptian wrestler Samar Hamza in the final, TRT Haber reports.
Defeating his opponent 6-0 in the last match of the day at Stark Arena, the national wrestler won his second world championship in his career. Yasemin also won a gold medal at the World Championship held in Paris, France in 2017.
Yasemin, who is the only world champion Turkish female wrestler, defeated Kazakh Gulmaral Yerkebayeva 10-0 in the second round in Belgrade, Japanese Yuka Kagami 4-2 in the quarterfinals, and Ecuadorian Genesis Reasco Valdez 4-3 in the semi-finals.
Yasemin Adar Yiğit had reached the 5th European championship this year in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
Yasemin, who took third place in the Tokyo Olympics, made history as the first Turkish female wrestler to win a medal in the Olympics.
At the end of the fifth day at the World Wrestling Championship held in Serbia, Türkiye reached 6 medals, 3 gold and 3 bronze.
