Gunmen kill 10 police forces in southeast Iran
At least 10 police personnel were killed in an attack by unidentified armed assailants in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan on October 26.
A provincial police official said that a patrol unit of the Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FARAJA) was targeted in the Goharkooh region of Taftan county around noon, Caliber.Az reports citing Iranian media.
The attackers opened fire on the patrol unit, resulting in the deaths of 10 officers, including both draftees and official police servicemen.
As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the assault.
Interior Minister Eskandar Mo’meni has dispatched a team of police commanders and ministry officials to investigate the attack and keep the public informed of the findings.
In December 2023, the notorious Jaish al-Adl terrorist group, referred to as Jaish al-Dhulm in Iran, attacked a police station in the city of Rask within Sistan and Balouchestan province, leading to the deaths of 11 Iranian police personnel.
