Hakobyan reappears as Armenia PM’s “spouse” in state order
On June 15, Armenian media reports indicated that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had signed a decision sending Anna Hakobyan to the United States to participate in the annual Global First Ladies Academy event in New York.
According to the decision, signed on June 11, Hakobyan is designated as the spouse of the head of government. The trip is scheduled to take place from June 26 to July 4, 2026. The Prime Minister’s office has been instructed to ensure reimbursement of actual expenses related to the visit, although the exact amount of funding has not been disclosed.
The visit is linked to the Global First Ladies Academy, an annual event held in New York.
The report notes that on February 17, 2026, Anna Hakobyan stated that her civil marriage with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had ended. “Please be restrained and correct regarding this topic,” she wrote on her Facebook page.
Shortly after, on February 27, she again posted a video on Facebook stating that her relationship with Pashinyan had ended. She said she was leaving the government residence and moving to a rented apartment, while noting that a house purchased on credit was still under construction.
Later, on April 23, 2026, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a press briefing that he was making efforts to preserve the family and was glad to have another chance.
Despite these earlier public statements suggesting that Hakobyan was no longer the Prime Minister’s spouse, the June 11 decision still refers to her as the spouse of the head of government and provides for state-funded travel in that capacity.
